Our story really begins at McMaster University in 2014. Cath was just settling into first year, quickly becoming close with her two roommates from Brampton, while Sam was finishing up his final year of high school. One evening, he hopped in the car to visit said roommates, and Cath just so happened to be home… and wondering who this cute guy was who stopped by. Thanks, Noella and Ashley!
We went our separate ways for a while, both finishing up university and occasionally running into each other at parties and get-togethers over the years. Somewhere along the way, we went on about two hundred “first dates” with one another, the most memorable being dinner at Chubby's, where Sam said approximately three words the entire night, and watching the Raptors win game after game during their 2019 championship run, where Sam said maybe five. Eventually, it all led to one fateful night at a friend’s birthday party. Thanks, Dylan!
Once we reconnected, it quickly became clear how well we got along. We shared jokes and memories, and Sam finally got comfortable enough to hold a conversation on our dates. Cath had just moved to Toronto, COVID was at its peak, and we spent countless nights cooking dinners, playing games, and watching a lot of sports. Shoutout to Silvia, as Cath’s roommate, she was there for all of it.
Over the years, we’ve continued to grow together and love each other even more. We’ve made so many memories while travelling the world, getting to know each other’s families, and spending time with friends. Sam moved to Toronto, our home is filled with laughter, and yes, we still watch way too many sports games, though Cath has perfected the art of tuning them out. We’re so excited to begin this next chapter of our lives and can’t wait to celebrate our wedding with all of our loved ones!
